President's Message

Welcome to the official webpage of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc., Epsilon Eta Chapter, proudly serving Gloucester, Virginia.

It is with pride and appreciation that we welcome you to our chapter’s online home.

Epsilon Eta Chapter stands on a strong foundation of leadership, service, and sisterhood that has enriched the Gloucester community for more than four decades.

Through the leadership of Georgia Redcross, a member of Gamma Zeta Chapter, Newport News, VA and a resident of Gloucester County, Epsilon Eta Chapter was chartered on July 11, 1981, at the historic Moton Center, now known as the Gloucester Institute. Alongside Soror Redcross, seven remarkable women answered the call to service as Charter Members: Georgia Redcross, Velma B. Chapman, Patricia Catlett, Lorraine Driver, Florine Ellis, LaVerne C. Forrest, Marion Randall, and Gwendolyn L. Lee. These eight trailblazing women laid the groundwork for a legacy rooted in purpose, perseverance, and community uplift.

The vision, dedication, and commitment of our Charter Members continue to live throughout
Gloucester and surrounding counties. Their legacy is reflected in our chapter’s service to
women, youth, and families, as well as our adherence to the principles of Friendship,
Love, and Loyalty. We honor their contributions by remaining steadfast in our mission to empower, educate, and elevate our community.

As you explore our webpage, we invite you to learn more about our programs, initiatives, and
partnerships. Whether you are a community supporter, a prospective member, or a returning friend, we hope you are inspired by our history and encouraged by our continued work.

Thank you for visiting, and we look forward to connecting with you as we continue to serve
Gloucester with excellence—moving Upward and Onward.

In Sisterhood and Service,
